Xmas 2008. Part 1. Xmas door/window wreaths

1. Christmas door/window wreath ”La caresse”

For Xmas and New Year 2008/2009 I wanted to celebrate with some new pieces of decoration. My old wreath made of pine branches ( I painted it silver with the silver spray) started to loose its leaves so it was high time for a new one.

Idea for this feather one I took from some magazine (do not remember which, unfortunately) but modified a bit. They suggested to use seperate feathers while I did not have either feathers or time so I found a short cut.

Supplies:

White feather boa (I bought mine from a local textile shop), one was enough for two wreaths; 1-1,5 m aluminum wire, scotch tape, some white wrap paper, needle, white threads and a ribbon for hanging.

1. Bend the wire into a circle, making a loop at one end (we will use it for hanging the wreath) and fixing the other end by wraping it several times around the first one.Wrap scotch tape arond the wire, it will prevent it from discolouring the paper. Cut the white wrapping paper into long stripes and wrap them around the wire circle. If necessary fix the ends the paper stripes by threads.

2. Now it is time to fix the feather boa to the wire base. The easiest way is to use a needle with a thread as it is going close to the base and do not misplace the feathers. Just ”saw” the boa and the base together with a thread. When done you may add some hanging element in the center of the wreath, use the loop of the base for that.

3. Finally pull the ribbon into the loop and hang the wreath.
